The Sacred Role of Institutions

Beloved Serapis Bey

January 26, 1981

This is one of the most difficult of concepts to understand because it is both man-made and God-made; both human and divine - physical and spiritual.

It is easier to understand meditation... it is private! Organizations are public. Meditation is primarily an inner experience. We generally accept that it is not easy to know the value of one's inner experience (meditation). On the other hand, we are used to evaluating outer experiences (organizations). We think it is proper to judge the quality of those doing organizational work around us. For example, we evaluate political parties, political candidates, local anti-nuclear groups, etc.

So... here we are, accustomed to our evaluating the quality of organizational experience; i.e. their routines, goals, leadership-styles, etc. Then: we are presented with a group that says it is a spiritual organization! What to do? How to evaluate? Our past experience regarding evaluating or not evaluating leaves us on the horns of a dilemma.

The chelas of The New Age Church of The Christ must solve this dilemma if the New Age is to be anything more than an increase in the number of mediators on the planet — i.e. if this increased spiritual radiation is to have the social effect intended.

Here is a brief review of how God the Spiritual Hierarchy in this instance - has worked with, and used, some organizations.

(a) The Jews (a cultural group) with many origins were destined to deliver to that section of the world, for that time period, the concept of monotheism. The Hebrew Covenant suggested that they would have a special land, be the Father of many nations, and be a blessing to the world. The Jews knew they had a destiny. The Masters, as agents of God, honored their commitment and allowed this group to fulfill its role as indicated in the Hebrew Covenant.

(b) The Mormons felt led to teach the world about right social relationships. Today they are known for their contribution to the concept of wholesome family life - the bedrock of social relationships.

(c) The American Indians have traditionally seen themselves as the caretakers of this planet... the ones to remind the rest of us to have a respectful relationship with Mother Earth.

Were there any individual Jews, Mormons, or Indians who failed to live up to the group commitment? Were there any individual Jews, Mormons, or Indians who were, so to speak "spoilers"? Yes, of course there were!

We present to you a new proverb: "One rotten apple might spoil the barrel, but probably not, because someone will likely remove it." If this were not true, the Jews would not have brought monotheism to us when they did; the Mormons would not have made the desert bloom and inspired us with ideas of right social relations; the American Indians would have lost all interest in caring for Mother Earth. (It seems the mantle of commitment remained intact).

The Ascended Masters, as Agents of God, will honor the investments of energy (mantle of commitment) made to organizations... as long as the matching (1)  purity of intent and (2) understanding of the issue in question is maintained by the chelas at a sufficient level to keep the primary motive of that organization going in the direction started by original investment of energy.

The mantle (or energy investment), once bestowed upon an organization or institution is not readily transferred, not flippantly jockeyed from one point to another. Only when the above proverb has been violated for a sustained period of time is the mantle reluctantly and reverently withdrawn and bestowed upon another. And, at such a moment, heaven weeps...

The Ascended Masters urgently need organized goodness to make their statements to the world. Sooner or later all private and individual mediators, says the Beloved El Morya, must do something to society if Saint Germain's New Golden Age is to be a reality.

Beloved Saint Germain, Micah, Angel of Unity and others have weighed the conditions, sorted through various plans of “Avatarship”, reviewed the applicants and then chose to have a Group Avatar to initiate this particular "New Age" and we have made that investment of energy in, or passed the mantle to, THE NEW AGE CHURCH OF THE CHRIST!

We, as chelas of THE NEW AGE CHURCH OF THE CHRIST seek to wear it with dignity - to act out our responsibility. We do not know what mantle of energy or assignments, have been passed to other groups or persons. But we do know what has been passed to us - the Group Avatarship.

In summary, when we evaluate, for our private knowledge, whether or not this organization is fulfilling its sacred role in its completeness... we must look at the purpose of the original investment of energy (bestowing of the mantle) as described by the Ascended Masters who bestowed the mantle. Then we must look to the primary purpose of the organization in its literature, its leaders, its programs, and its "flavor" in general. If we sense a basic match of the two, we can feel assured that the sacred role is being maintained. This is so even though some clever and critical minds have a tendency to see "spoiled apples" here and there from time to time.

We have been assured the Sacred Role of the Institution is still intact and we are each called upon to do our part in fulfilling that role.
