Dear Wayfarers: 

The greatest gift that any part of life can offer to another part of life is something that expands the consciousness of the receiver by planting within that consciousness a permanent way and means by which some good can be maintained, independent of the giver. For example, you might continue to serve delicious food to an individual who would enjoy the palatable dishes and wax strong and healthy thereby, such an one depending upon your talent for his well-being, or you might show the individual the ways and means by which you prepared those delicacies, which would enable that individual, wherever he or she might be in the Universe, to draw forth and sustain himself or others by reason of your enrichment of his consciousness. 

The second service is the Ascended Masters' way of expanding the Kingdom of Heaven. You can apply this Law to any set of circumstances or any contacts you have with unascended beings. Mankind is either serving the senses of others without enriching the consciousness, or mankind is emulating the Ascended Host and enriching the consciousness of good. 

You will see upon further study of our original example that if you were to confer the results of your talents upon an individual, such an one could not in turn enrich the consciousness of any other part of life, because, although his body might be fed by the substance, lovingly prepared, his consciousness not having been enlightened as to the ways and means of the preparation, he could not pass on to any other part of life a similar enlightenment; but if he had been given the full understanding that lay behind your achievement, his pathway through the Universe could carry that understanding to hundreds or thousands of other individuals, and in this way the Ascended Masters Consciousness, or the constructive Christ Consciousness, is constantly passed from man to man to make the entire world a richer and a more beautiful experience. 

You will understand that this is but a meager example of what can be done in every line. In dealing with children we can serve their daily needs and requirements, but, far more important, we can place within their consciousness a permanent understanding and illumination which will be a permanent part of their attitude toward life and relationship to the Universe which will not die with the childlike association, but remain an eternal and never-ending Flame which will lighten their way and which will flow into the life of those they contact in an ever-widening arc of Perfection.
