VOLUME 15, Number 35                                                                                                                   August 27, 1993

Beloved Chelas,

The Shamballa Letters represent a true cooperative effort between Master and chela. We - your Ascended Brothers and Sisters - utilize these Letters to impart to you the Laws and Principles which govern the process of evolution. We also use the Letters to outline for you the "ways and means" of living in Harmony with Divine Law.

You - our beloved chelas - have perhaps the greater and more difficult responsibility of translating these Laws and Principles into constructive, creative action in your daily lives. With every thought word and action - you strive to increase your mastery of Divine Energy. Day by day, moment by moment, you make the calls for Divine Light which set into motion the Creative First Cause - cutting mankind free from the discord of the mass consciousness!

Sometimes, the very volume of information that you receive makes it difficult to coordinate and assimilate the facts, and then translate knowledge into a well-rounded course of action. This, then, is the difference between knowledge and Illumination!

Illumination has been defined as "the shedding of light where darkness has been." Illumination of the consciousness is perception and use of the Divine Idea or Principle behind every situation in life. Without Illumination - the wisdom to perceive and use Divine Principle - one seems to live in a world of "outer cause-to-inner effect." In fact, all Cause is inner, and all outer manifestation results from the inner cause.

Knowledge becomes Illumination at the point where the lifestream initiates action to manifest the Truth. You might think that action is unwise until full Illumination is manifest in the mental and emotional bodies. In fact, Illumination is the active radiation of Divine Truth.

This may be a difficult concept to understand. Allow me to give you an example. If a teacher gives a student a mathematical principle - such as "any number, divided by itself, equals one" - the student may understand that principle in theory. This understanding is knowledge. The student may use this knowledge to a varying degree, even espousing the theory to others as though he understands it. However, when the student applies this principle to many different numbers, demonstrating for himself the Truth of the principle - then and only then does the knowledge become Illumination. The period of "testing" is complete, and the student will be able from then on to use and teach the principle without question.

Thus, the first step toward Illumination must be one of action. First comes the action, then the reaction. To pull the Light out of the Inner Realm into the four lower vehicles, one must take action.

There are many examples of such creative action in which you presently engage as chelas of the Great White Brotherhood. Your decrees, affirmations, petitions, group work - all of these are examples of creative action which manifests illumination. Another such action was recommended by Maitreya at the end of last year. His suggestion was that each chela begin a personal Spiritual Journal. Maitreya called such a journal a "training tool", and so it is, if properly used.

Next week I will give you some suggestions and guidelines which will assist you to put your Spiritual Journal to maximum use in your efforts to outpicture the Christ. Until then,

I AM Kuthumi
